The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in Kogi State, Hon. Abanika Taiye , on Thursday, July 10, 2025, embarked on an oversight visit to key ongoing construction projects at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, and the Confluence University Teaching Hospital, Okene.

Accompanied by the Director of Projects and his Technical Assistant, the Commissioner began the tour at CUSTECH, where he assessed the progress of work on the Senate Building and the Faculty of Engineering complex. Hon. Abanika expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, commending the contractors for their professionalism and commitment.

He urged them to maintain the momentum and ensure that the state gets full value for its investment, emphasizing that the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, is committed to delivering projects of the highest standard. The Commissioner also inspected furniture already fabricated for installation across offices in the new buildings and praised the state government for making resources available for the ongoing infrastructural development.

The Senate Building, he noted, is nearing completion, while work on the Faculty of Engineering is advancing steadily with concurrent landscaping works already in progress.

The Commissioner’s next stop was the Confluence University Teaching Hospital in Okene (formerly known as the Reference Hospital), where he inspected ongoing construction of the Doctors’ Lodge and Students’ Hostels. Hon. Abanika emphasized the importance of strict adherence to contractual specifications and timelines, stressing that accountability and quality remain non-negotiable pillars under the current administration.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, the Commissioner reiterated the unwavering commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to improving infrastructure, particularly in housing and urban development across Kogi State.
