Kogi Govt Hands Over Radio Kogi Okene-Eba Project to Contractor, Abanika Demands Quality, Timely Delivery

The Kogi State Government has formally handed over the site of the Radio Kogi Okene-Eba construction project to the contractor, marking the commencement of work on the long-awaited project.

The handover was performed by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, alongside the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, on behalf of the Kogi State Government.

Speaking at the event, Abanika charged the contractor, Widerview Ltd, to execute the project according to specifications and ensure that quality was not compromised. He also urged the company to adhere to the agreed timeline, stressing the importance of delivering a durable facility that would serve its intended purpose for the people.

The Commissioner said the project reflects the state government’s commitment to providing the infrastructure required to strengthen public communication and information dissemination across the state.

On his part, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for approving the project, noting that the development would further enhance Radio Kogi’s capacity to reach more people, particularly within Okene and surrounding communities.

The project architect, Jonathan Bulus of Widerview Ltd, assured the state government that the company would deliver a standard project while maintaining professional integrity and quality. He disclosed that the project was expected to be completed within 16 weeks, although the rocky nature of the site could present some construction challenges.

Bulus said the company would work to maintain the agreed timeline and pledged to collaborate with the host community, particularly its youths, throughout the construction process.

The community leader and representative of the youths, Malam Yahaya Bello, expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Kogi State Government for approving the project, describing the development as a source of excitement for the Okeneba community.

Bello pledged the community’s cooperation with the contractor and assured the government that residents and youths would protect the facility. He also urged the contractor to maintain regular communication with the community whenever assistance was required.

When completed, the Radio Kogi Okene-Eba facility is expected to expand the Corporation’s scope of information dissemination and enable it to serve residents of Okene and neighbouring communities more effectively.
