IYAMOYE DAY 2026: A CELEBRATION OF UNITY, LOVE, AND A RENEWED COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

_A PUBLIC APPRECIATION AND POST-EVENT REPORT_

On behalf of the National President of the Iyamoye Development Union (IDU), Alhaji Abubakar Adeyemi Shittu, and the entire National Executive Council, we wish to express our profound gratitude to God Almighty, the Supreme Host, for the resounding success of Iyamoye Day 2026, held on Saturday, 31st October 2026, at Model Primary School, Iyamoye, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Oba-in-Council and the traditional rulers of Iyamoye Kingdom, under the distinguished leadership of the Obadofin and Regent of Iyamoye Kingdom, HRH Aminu Iliasu Babatunde, MFR, for their royal blessings, presence, support and fatherly guidance throughout the celebration.

We are equally honoured and deeply grateful to the distinguished personalities who graced the occasion, including:

- Major General Tahir Oshe Umar (Rtd.), Chairman of the Occasion.

To every one of these dignitaries and guests, we say a very big thank you. Your presence meant a great deal to us. Despite the challenges posed by our road infrastructure, the relatively short notice extended to some invitees, and other circumstances that could have prevented your attendance, you still made the journey to identify with our community. Indeed, this was more than attendance; it was a genuine demonstration of love, solidarity and commitment to the progress of Iyamoye.

A LANDMARK CELEBRATION AND A NEW CHAPTER

Without exaggeration, Iyamoye Day 2026 was a remarkable success and a landmark event in the history of our community. The overwhelming turnout, positive feedback, cultural displays, enthusiastic participation and collective spirit witnessed at the occasion have left us greatly encouraged.

The success recorded has exceeded our expectations, and we are truly overwhelmed by the positive outcomes. It has once again demonstrated that when we come together with a common purpose, great things are possible.

The National President particularly commends the Planning and Organising Committee members, under the leadership of Alhaji Sheriff Bello, for their dedication, resilience, sacrifice and unwavering commitment throughout the planning and execution of the programme. Your hard work, sleepless nights and collective determination have translated into a memorable celebration. The entire community owes you a debt of gratitude.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION OF THE IYAMOYE OJOGBON CONSULTATIVE FORUM

Our appreciation would certainly be incomplete without recognising the invaluable contributions of the Iyamoye Ojogbon Consultative Forum, under the distinguished leadership of Prof. Mike Ikupolati.

We sincerely acknowledge the Forum's remarkable ideas, intellectual contributions, strategic guidance and unwavering support, which played a significant role in the successful execution of Iyamoye Day 2026.

The Forum has demonstrated that community development is not driven by financial resources alone, but also by wisdom, experience, constructive ideas and the willingness of well-meaning individuals to contribute their knowledge towards a common goal.

We particularly appreciate Prof. Mike Ikupolati and all members of the Forum for their commitment, encouragement and belief in the Iyamoye dream. Your contributions have helped strengthen our collective vision and bring us closer to achieving this important milestone.

We are proud to have such a body of distinguished minds standing firmly behind the development aspirations of our community. May God continue to grant you wisdom, strength and greater accomplishments.

SPECIAL APPRECIATION TO OUR CO-LAUNCHER

We wish to specially acknowledge and appreciate our distinguished Co-Launcher, Barr. Adebola Sheidu, OON, whose extraordinary generosity and show of love towards the development of Iyamoye deserve special recognition.

Through his remarkable support, God used him as a channel of blessing to our community, making substantial financial contributions and donating 20 Industrial Sewing Machines towards the proposed Industrial Skill Acquisition Centre.

This is indeed a commendable demonstration of selflessness, generosity and genuine commitment to youth empowerment and community development.

Sir, your contribution goes beyond financial assistance; it is a practical investment in the future of our young people and a legacy that will positively impact generations to come. We are sincerely grateful, and we pray that Almighty God will continually replenish your resources, enlarge your coast and reward your kindness abundantly.

OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ₦500 MILLION INDUSTRIAL SKILL ACQUISITION CENTRE

One of the major highlights of Iyamoye Day 2026 was the fundraising initiative towards the establishment of a ₦500 Million Industrial Skill Acquisition Centre.

This initiative represents more than a fundraising campaign; it is an investment in the future of our youths and the sustainable development of our community.

Our vision is to create opportunities for practical skills acquisition, vocational development, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, equipping our young people with the knowledge and skills required to become self-reliant, productive and competitive in today's world.

We believe that empowering our youths with relevant skills is one of the most sustainable ways to build a prosperous community and secure a better future for generations to come.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

As we celebrate this milestone, we recognise that Iyamoye Day 2026 is not the destination but another significant step in our collective journey towards community transformation.

The Iyamoye Development Union, under the leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Adeyemi Shittu, remains resolute in its commitment to the aspirations of our people. We shall not relent in our efforts until Iyamoye achieves its developmental dreams and experiences the growth, progress and prosperity we collectively desire.

To our traditional institution, political leaders, community stakeholders, sponsors, donors, planning committee, Iyamoye Ojogbon Consultative Forum, cultural groups, clubs, sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora, volunteers, media partners and every individual who contributed in one way or another, we say THANK YOU.

Your support, contributions, sacrifices and goodwill made this success possible.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we can build the Iyamoye of our dreams.

May God Almighty continue to bless Iyamoye Kingdom, protect our people wherever they may be, and grant our leaders the wisdom and strength to lead us towards greater heights.

The Kogi State Government has formally handed over the site of the Radio Kogi Okene-Eba construction project to the contractor, marking the commencement of work on the long-awaited project.
