We're Working to Deliver Gov. Ododo’s Mandate on Quality Housing — Hon. Abanika Declares During Project Inspection
The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in Kogi State, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring that all infrastructure projects under his ministry are executed to the highest standards in line with the mandate of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Hon. Abanika made this known on Monday, August 5th, 2025, during an inspection tour of ongoing construction works at the Confluence University Teaching Hospital, Okene where doctors' quarters and medical student lodges are under construction and at the Kogi State University, Kabba, where several infrastructure projects are underway.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner charged contractors at both institutions to strictly adhere to project specifications and maintain quality as outlined in their contract agreements. He emphasized that as a “field man,” he is committed to personally inspecting sites as often as necessary to ensure that no aspect of quality or standard is compromised.
“I am working to deliver on the mandate of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to provide quality and dignified housing across state institutions. This is not just a directive, it is a duty I take seriously,” Hon. Abanika stated.
He further assured the contractors of the government's readiness to provide necessary support that would facilitate smooth and timely delivery of the projects. While encouraging them to meet the agreed timelines, he urged them to uphold professionalism and best practices at all stages of execution.
At the Confluence University Teaching Hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Shaibu Stephen, received the Commissioner and joined him on the inspection of the facilities. Similarly, at Kogi State University, Kabba, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.I.T. Eniola, along with other university officials, welcomed the Commissioner and lauded his consistency in monitoring projects across the state.
Contractors at the sites expressed appreciation for the government's continued support and pledged to deliver quality work within the stipulated timelines.
