Hon. Abanika Taiye Graces Ebiya Final Street Football Tournament, Calls for Unity and Support for Ododo-led Administration
The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, graced the final match of the Ebiya Street Football Tournament, held in Ebiya District of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi State.
Addressing the crowd at the event, Hon. Abanika Taiye expressed delight at the level of youth participation and community engagement fostered through sports, describing football as a unifying platform capable of promoting peace, love, and togetherness among the people.
The Honourable Commissioner supported the winning team with cash gifts and assured the youths of his continued support, charging the sons and daughters of the land to embrace unity and collective responsibility for the development of their community.
He emphasized that Ajaokuta is steadily transforming into a mega city under the purposeful leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, alongside the political leadership of the Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulraheem Sanni Egidi.
Hon. Abanika further disclosed that the Kogi State Government is currently developing over 4,000 hectares of land at Unosi in Ajaokuta Local Government Area for the establishment of a Free Trade Zone.
According to him, the project is expected to attract captains of industry, boost commercial activities, and create employment opportunities for the teeming youth population.
He therefore called on the people of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency to continue to support the reelection of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Honourable Member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulraheem Sanni Egidi, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for continuity to sustain ongoing development projects.
In their response, the youths, who were visibly excited by the presence and magnanimity of the Honourable Commissioner, pledged their unwavering support and loyalty to the Ododo-led administration, reaffirming their commitment to peace, unity, and grassroots development in Ajaokuta.
