Kogi Drug Agency Hails Gov. Ododo’s Two Years of Strategic Healthcare Governance

The Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency (KSDMSMA), Pharmacist Salamat Onize Ibrahim, has showered encomiums on His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as he marks his second year in office as Executive Governor of Kogi State, describing his administration as vision-driven, people-focused, and boldly transformative.

Pharmacist Salamat stated that Governor Ododo has not only sustained but significantly elevated the healthcare reforms initiated by his predecessor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, under whose leadership the Agency was established in 2019 to manufacture, source, procure, store, and distribute quality drugs and medical consumables to public health facilities across the state.

According to her, Governor Ododo’s administration has brought uncommon political will, administrative clarity, and strategic investment into the state’s drug management architecture, repositioning the Agency as a critical pillar of his broader health-sector transformation agenda.

She noted that under the Governor’s decisive and compassionate leadership, the Agency signed Memorandum of Understanding with reputable pharmaceutical manufacturers, guaranteeing the steady supply of safe, effective, and affordable drugs for the people of Kogi State.

The Executive Secretary further revealed that the Governor approved the inauguration of Technical and Steering Committees, a move she described as a clear demonstration of his belief in strong institutions, transparency, and good governance.

One of the most celebrated milestones of the Ododo administration in the health sector, she said, is the introduction of the Last Mile Delivery (LMD) system, which has ended the era of stress and hardship for health workers by ensuring that drugs and medical consumables are delivered directly to health facilities across the state.

She added that Governor Ododo has entrenched price uniformity of drugs across all public health facilities, eliminated fragmentation through a single, unified supply chain, and protected the poor and vulnerable from exploitative pricing, further affirming his reputation as a people-first Governor.

Pharmacist Salamat also highlighted the Governor’s approval of the donation of a brand-new transformer and the renovation of the Agency into a Pharma-grade warehouse, noting that these interventions underscore his commitment to global best practices and sustainable infrastructure.

In what she described as a bold and futuristic move, the Governor approved the sponsorship of the Agency to understudy pharmaceutical quality control systems to ensure that no fake or adulterated drug finds its way into public hospitals in Kogi State.

She further applauded the Governor for approving the renovation and upgrade of the Drugs Revolving Fund (DRF) store, as well as sponsoring the Honourable Commissioner for Health and the Executive Secretary to Lagos to understudy the Pool Procurement System, an initiative expected to dramatically reduce drug costs and expand access for citizens, with implementation set to commence this year.

To crown these achievements, Pharmacist Salamat said the Ododo administration has introduced the m-Supply digital system, a technology-driven inventory and logistics platform designed to strengthen accountability, improve efficiency, and provide real-time visibility of drug stocks across the state.

She described Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as a visionary, health-friendly, and development-driven leader, whose governance philosophy places the wellbeing of the people at the centre of policy decisions.

Pharmacist Salamat reaffirmed the total loyalty and commitment of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency to the Governor’s transformative agenda, praying for divine wisdom, strength, and continued success as he leads Kogi State to greater heights.
