This is why it will always be about connection

Assuming I become the President of Nigeria today, I can assure you that within 48 hours, my long-time primary school mates and friends I thought I had lost contact with will try to reconnect. My secondary school mates and university mates will do the same.

Don’t forget that my NYSC experience also gave me good friends and even families across different ethnicities.

All members of my extended family — even those I can’t find the English word to describe our relationship — will want to identify with me.

I am a Christian and I have been a member of different assemblies. Also, don’t forget that I have a Muslim identity from my grandfather whose name I bear as surname.

Everyone who has known me in one way or another in the past will want to identify.

By the end of the day, you will discover that most of the appointments and offers I will make will first benefit

these people I have had a connection with at one point or another across the nation.

Right now, across the six geopolitical zones, there is no zone where I haven’t met good people.

To gain favour will often come down to a direct connection or a recommendation from someone who knows someone who knows someone… who knows me.

The world is indeed a global village. Never make anyone your enemy, even if they are not your friend. Never leave someone on a bad note.

People will always consider who they know first before looking outside. Even merit will be sought from within first before stepping outside.
