CDC and CIHP Rate Kogi State Specialist Hospital Highly During Courtesy Visit

The Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, on Monday 23rd September hosted a courtesy visit from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), accompanied by representatives from the Center for Integrated Health Program (CIHP). During the visit, the hospital received high praise for its strategic location, skilled staff, and quality healthcare services.
Leading the CDC team, Mr. Ayo Fagbemi commended the hospital's capacity to deliver excellent healthcare services. He emphasized the CDC’s objective of achieving HIV epidemic control by 2030, citing recent spectrum estimates that show Kogi State has approximately 99,000 individuals living with HIV, of which 34,000 are currently undergoing treatment. He stressed the need to identify those yet to begin treatment, highlighting the critical role Kogi State Specialist Hospital plays in this mission.
Mr. Ayo FagbemiMr. Ayo Fagbemi also expressed his appreciation for the hospital’s improved appearance, noting that during their previous visit, the hospital’s structure was not as beautiful as it is now. He applauded the ongoing efforts to enhance the hospital’s facilities and create a more welcoming environment for patients.
Prof. Isah Yahaya AdagiriIn response, the Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri, expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to collaborating with the CDC and CIHP in tackling healthcare challenges within the state. Prof. Adagiri also promised to grant the team’s request for a more spacious facility, aimed at providing greater convenience for patients, particularly those receiving HIV treatment.
