The Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri, has commended the management and staff of Confluence University, Osara, for securing the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation for the study of Medicine and Surgery.

In a statement, Prof. Adagiri described the accreditation as a commendable achievement, attributing it to the purposeful leadership of the institution’s founding father, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello (CON). He emphasized that the establishment of the university, which is less than five years old, was a visionary move by the former governor. According to him, this development will ease the pressure on Kogi students who annually travel long distances and are often denied admission into medical programs in other parts of the country.

Prof. Adagiri also took the opportunity to applaud the current Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his significant investments in the institution within his short time in office. He commended the governor's decisive response to a recent security breach at the university, which, he noted, has sent a clear warning to criminal elements that Kogi State is no safe haven for illicit activities.

In addition, Prof. Adagiri congratulated his professional colleague, Prof. Solomon Avidime, for his effective management of Reference Hospital, Okene. The hospital is expected to serve as a teaching hospital for Confluence University’s medical program.

Prof. Adagiri concluded by urging the people of Kogi State to continue supporting the innovative leadership of Governor Ododo. He further pledged the continued commitment of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, to advancing medical care services and research in the state.
