Prof. Adagiri Commends Kogi First Lady's Humanitarian Visit to Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Applauds Governor Ododo's Commitment to the Health Sector


The First Lady of Kogi State, Hajiya Sefinat Ahmed Ododo, paid a humanitarian visit to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, on December 31, 2024, marking a heartwarming conclusion to the year. During the visit, she reached out to antenatal women, patients, and the hospital community with gifts and words of encouragement.

Welcoming the First Lady, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri, praised her dedication to the health and welfare of Kogi State’s citizens. He noted that her visit exemplified her commitment to the well-being of the people and also reflecting the synergy between her initiatives and the visionary leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Prof. Adagiri acknowledged the state government's significant investments in modern infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, and staff welfare, which have transformed the hospital into a center of excellence. He further emphasized that the appointment of one of the hospital’s staff members as the Chief Medical Director of the Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital, among other appointments, stands as proof of the hospital's leading role in healthcare delivery across the state. This recognition, he said, reflects the institution's reputation as a model of excellence and a pillar of the state's healthcare system.


The Chief Medical Director assured the First Lady that her presence inspired the hospital staff to continue striving for excellence in service delivery, aligning with the government’s vision of prioritizing the health and welfare of its citizens.

In her address, Hajiya Sefinat Ahmed Ododo reaffirmed her commitment to always identifying with her people, especially those at the grassroots. She emphasized the critical role of women in building harmonious societies and urged them to support their families diligently. She also appealed to men to show love and respect to their wives, noting that mutual understanding is essential for family and societal success. Additionally, she conveyed a message from the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, encouraging women to remain industrious and resourceful.

The centerpiece of the visit was the distribution of cash and gifts to antenatal women, patients in all hospital wards. Her generosity was met with excitement and heartfelt prayers for the continued success of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.


The hospital community expressed profound gratitude for the First Lady’s visit, reaffirming their commitment to delivering quality healthcare services under the supportive policies of the state government.
