The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri, has lauded the commendable efforts of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for signing into law the bill that converts the state-of-the-art Reference Hospital, Okene, into the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital.

In his statement, Prof. Adagiri described Governor Ododo as a visionary leader who recognizes critical needs and ensures they are met. He emphasized that the establishment of the teaching hospital is a monumental step toward addressing the shortage of medical personnel in the country. He expressed optimism that the new facility would significantly enhance healthcare delivery and strengthen the state’s capacity to train skilled medical professionals.

“With the persistent challenge of brain drain in the medical sector, commonly referred to as the 'japa syndrome,' this initiative will play a pivotal role in retaining talent while equipping our state and the nation with the necessary manpower to address health challenges,” Prof. Adagiri stated.

He further noted that the establishment of the teaching hospital would provide Kogi indigenes with increased access to quality healthcare and elevate the standard of medical education for students pursuing careers in medicine within the state.

Prof. Adagiri concluded by offering prayers for Governor Ododo and his cabinet, expressing gratitude for their unwavering commitment to advancing the state’s healthcare sector. He also pledged the continued support and loyalty of the management and staff of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, to the administration's vision and mandate.
