Ministry of Housing to Enforce Strict Supervision as Hon. Abanika Joins Gov. Ododo in Project Kickoff at PAAU Teaching Hospital

The Kogi State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has reiterated its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with quality and project standards across the state. This assurance was given by the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Abanika Taiye, while addressing journalists in Ayingba shortly after the the official handover of designated construction sites to contractors at the Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) Teaching Hospital, Anyigba.

Hon. Abanika, who joined the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo ably represented by the Commissioner for Health at the ceremony, emphasized the ministry’s supervisory mandate and dedication to delivering value-driven infrastructure.

“Our ministry is committed to carrying out thorough oversight to ensure that every project executed under this administration reflects the excellence Governor Ododo stands for,” Hon. Abanika stated. “We will leave no room for substandard work. Every contractor must adhere strictly to the project specifications and timelines.”

He further urged contractors to respect the terms of their contracts and deliver quality projects within the stipulated period to avoid delays that could hamper the hospital’s operations.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Health described the project launch as a deliberate effort by the current administration to advance critical sectors, particularly healthcare, education, and research. He noted that the absence of key infrastructure had led to the loss of medical accreditation at the institution in 2015, forcing affected students to transfer to other universities across the country.

He explained that the administration of Governor Ododo, building on the legacies of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, is committed to correcting past setbacks through strategic investments in infrastructure that will reposition the teaching hospital for excellence in healthcare delivery and medical education.

The projects flagged off for construction include:

Multi-purpose Medical Laboratories  by Zack Ohiani and Affan Nigeria Limited

Classrooms and Library Block  by Xenius Global Nigeria Limited

Consultants’ Offices Block  by Logic Build Limited

The project is expected to be completed before the end of the year 2025. It will be supervised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, while the client is the Kogi State Ministry of Health.
