Kogi Government Debunks Rumours of 20,000 Job Recruitment, Warns Public Against Scam
The Kogi State Government has debunked reports making the rounds on social media and other informal platforms alleging that it is set to recruit 20,000 workers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
In a strongly worded statement released by the Ministry of Information and Communications on Tuesday, the government described the claim as “false, unfounded, and deliberately misleading,” warning the public to disregard the rumour.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, no such recruitment exercise has been announced or is currently under consideration. He emphasized that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is more focused on reforming and strengthening the civil service rather than expanding it arbitrarily.
“The present administration is committed to enhancing the efficiency of the civil service, reducing redundancy, and improving worker welfare and capacity. These are part of the foundational reforms necessary for building a sustainable public service system,” Fanwo stated.
He also noted that in light of prevailing economic realities and the government’s drive for prudent fiscal management, launching a massive recruitment exercise at this time would be “neither practical nor responsible.”
Fanwo urged members of the public, particularly job seekers, to be cautious and avoid falling victim to fraudulent individuals exploiting the fake recruitment news. He reaffirmed that official information from the government would only be released through its verified social media handles, official website, The Graphic Newspaper, Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation (KSBC), and other designated platforms.
He concluded with a reassurance that the Ododo-led administration remains transparent and people-oriented, committed to clear and truthful communication with the citizens of Kogi State.
