Eid-el-Kabir: Kogi Housing and Urban Development Commissioner Salutes Muslim Ummah, Calls for Prayers for Governor Ododo
As Muslims across the globe mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in Kogi State, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has extended warm felicitations to the entire Muslim Ummah, describing the festival as a time of deep spiritual significance, marked by sacrifice, submission, and unwavering faith in Almighty Allah.
In his Sallah message, Hon. Abanika urged Muslims to embrace the true spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, which commemorates the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his willingness to sacrifice his son in submission to God’s will, a powerful reminder of the need for humility, devotion, and trust in Allah's divine plan. He emphasized that the season should inspire acts of kindness, compassion, and selflessness towards one another, particularly the less privileged.
He further called on the faithful to pray fervently for the continued guidance, wisdom, and protection of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, as he pilots the affairs of the state.
Highlighting the achievements of the Ododo-led administration, Hon. Abanika noted that in less than two years in office, Governor Ododo has brought about significant transformation across various sectors, particularly in housing and urban renewal, road infrastructure, and human capital development.
The Commissioner commended the recent payment of leave bonuses to civil servants and the monthly allocation of N50 million for the payment of gratuities to local government pensioners, describing these initiatives as further evidence of the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
He reiterated the Ministry’s resolve, under Governor Ododo’s leadership, to continue working tirelessly to provide affordable housing to the people of Kogi State. He revealed that plans are already underway for the construction of housing estates for civil servants across the state. He also disclosed that massive housing projects are ongoing and some already completed in several tertiary education and health institutions, aimed at addressing accommodation challenges in those sectors.
Hon. Abanika concluded by calling on the people of Kogi State to remain prayerful and supportive of the present administration. He urged the faithful to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir not only to celebrate but also to reflect on values of obedience, sacrifice, and faith, and to continue interceding for Governor Ododo as he strives to deliver more dividends of democracy to the good people of the state.
