Hon. Abanika Taiye Emerges Nigeria’s Best Commissioner at National Leadership Awards, Dedicates Honour to Gov. Ododo

The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has been honoured as the Best Commissioner in Nigeria at the prestigious National Leadership Awards held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Nigerian Merit Award House.

The highly competitive award recognises outstanding public office holders who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, innovation, and impactful governance across Nigeria’s public sector. Hon. Abanika Taiye was selected following his remarkable performance in driving housing reforms, urban renewal programmes, and people-oriented development initiatives within Kogi State.

While receiving the award, Hon. Abanika dedicated the honour to Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing him as a visionary leader whose policies and support have provided the enabling environment for effective service delivery in the state.

According to the Commissioner, “This award belongs first to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, whose leadership style, direction and confidence in us as commissioners continue to inspire excellence across all sectors of governance.”

He further expressed deep appreciation to the Kogi State Executive Council for their collective support and synergy, noting that their teamwork has been instrumental in the successes recorded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Hon. Abanika also commended the staff of the Ministry for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty, stressing that the award reflects their hard work and loyalty to the mandate of the present administration.
