Kogi Drug Agency Expands Reach, Offers Free Medical Supplies to Federal, State Institutions

The Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency has intensified efforts to improve access to essential medicines by extending free drug donation support to federal, state, and corporate organizations, aligning with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's healthcare vision.

Executive Secretary of the Agency, Pharmacist Salamat Onize Ibrahim, disclosed that, beyond the Agency's statutory responsibility of supplying drugs to state-owned health facilities, it has, under Governor Ododo's directive and the Coordinating Health Commissioner, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, consistently provided free medical supplies to various institutions across the state.

She made this known during a Sallah chat with journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Highlighting some of the Agency's interventions, Pharmacist Salamat noted that free drugs have been distributed to:

- The Department of State Services (DSS) Clinic to tackle the issue of shortage of essential drugs, especially with the increasing volume of patients there;

- The Association of Resident Doctors' Federal University Teaching Hospital (ARD-FUTH) Lokoja, in support of the medical outreaches in Maigari Palace axis in Lokoja and Karara village in Koto Karfe in Kogi local government during the AGM-health week activities;

- The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers' wives association (CDOWA) during their medical outreaches, with the sole aim of supporting women/girls and enhancing the rights and welfare of the less privileged.

She further revealed that the Agency has supported free medical outreach during:

- The civil service week across the state;

- Nigeria Christian Corper's Fellowship (NCCF);

- The Medical and Health CDS group of NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) for their quarterly outreach in screening for common diseases like hypertension, malaria, screening children for malnutrition, and providing free medications to orphanage homes and other private and federal institutions within the state.

These interventions are part of the Agency's broader commitment to complement ongoing healthcare efforts and ensure that quality, safe, and affordable drugs are accessible to all Kogi State residents.

Pharmacist Salamat reaffirmed the Agency's dedication to reaching every part of the state with essential medical supplies, urging citizens to support Governor Ododo's administration in strengthening the healthcare system.

She extended Sallah greetings to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, and admired Governor Ododo's leadership style in reaching out to every citizen in the state in terms of free drug donations to federal and private institutions, showing his commitment to making life easy and healthcare affordable to all residents in the state.

She prayed that the festive period brings blessings and that Allah accepts their prayers and grants Kogi State peace and prosperity.
