Gov. Ododo’s Administration Reaffirms Commitment to Affordable Housing as Kogi Participates in Renewed Hope Housing PPP Summit

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Tuesday 12 May, 2026 reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable housing development and urban renewal as the state participated in the Renewed Hope Housing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

Governor Ododo was represented at the summit by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, who attended the high-level programme organised by Shelter Advisory Services Limited in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The summit brought together key stakeholders in the housing sector, policymakers, investors, development experts and government officials to deliberate on strategies for addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit through effective public-private partnerships.

Among dignitaries present at the event was the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttagha Rabe Darma, PhD, alongside other top government functionaries and industry leaders committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Housing initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Ododo, Hon. Abanika Taiye noted that Kogi State remains committed to creating an enabling environment for investors and developers in the housing sector, stressing that the present administration understands the importance of affordable and accessible housing to economic growth and social stability.

He highlighted ongoing efforts by the Kogi State Government in urban development, infrastructure expansion and housing reforms aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across the state.

The commissioner further commended President Tinubu for his bold interventions in the housing sector through the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing the initiative as a transformative step capable of reducing the nation’s housing challenges while creating jobs and boosting economic activities.

According to him, the Federal Government’s commitment to housing development through strategic partnerships with the private sector demonstrates visionary leadership and a practical approach towards national development.

Participants at the summit also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between federal and state governments, financial institutions and private investors to bridge the housing gap and ensure that more Nigerians have access to decent and affordable homes.
