Workers’ Day: Pharm. Salamat Onize Applauds Kogi Workers, Commends Gov. Ododo’s Welfare Policies
The Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency, Pharmacist Salamat Onize Ibrahim, has congratulated workers across Kogi State, particularly staff of the Agency, on the occasion of the 2026 International Workers’ Day.
Pharm. Salamat described workers as the backbone of governance and development, noting that their dedication and professionalism remain critical to the success of government policies and programmes, especially in the health sector.
She commended the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare through consistent, timely salary payment, cash-backing of staff promotions, pension harmonization and health insurance for retirees, as well as the implementation of other worker-friendly policies. According to her, these initiatives have significantly boosted morale and enhanced productivity across the state workforce.
The Executive Secretary made these remarks shortly after participating in the Workers’ Day celebration held at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja, where she joined other government officials and workers in celebrating the annual event.
Pharm. Onize further acknowledged the contributions of other key stakeholders, including the Kogi State Accountant General, Hajiya Habibat Tijani, whose prudent financial management and advisory role, she said, have ensured the availability of funds for both recurrent and capital projects, thereby strengthening the effective implementation of government policies.
She also praised the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza for his support in translating government policies into tangible outcomes, noting that the synergy within the health sector has led to noticeable improvements in healthcare delivery across the state. She emphasized the commitment of the Agency to ensuring the availability of quality drugs across the state, in line with its mandate to support effective healthcare service delivery.
While calling on Kogi residents to continue to support the administration of Governor Ododo, she emphasized that sustained public cooperation is essential for the consolidation of the gains recorded so far.
She also used the occasion to appreciate staff of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency for their dedication and support to the progress and success of the Agency.
The International Workers’ Day, celebrated annually on May 1, is dedicated to honouring the contributions of workers and promoting their rights and welfare across the globe.
