World Health Day: Pharmacist Salamat Ize Delivers a Lecture on Urgent Call for Health Rights
In a moving commemoration of World Health Day 2024, the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) convened under the theme "My Health, My Right." Pharmacist Salamat Ize, the coordinator of Progressive Health Care Professionals and Associates (PHCPA), delivered a stirring lecture, highlighting the escalating threats to global health rights amidst conflicts and wars, which exact a toll of death, suffering, and deprivation.
Pharmacist Ize emphasized the pivotal role of pharmacists as frontline healthcare providers, committed to facilitating access to essential medications and delivering crucial health education. She underscored the significance of upholding the seven rights of patients, including the right person, medication, dose, time, route, reason, and documentation.
In addition to these fundamental rights, Pharmacist Ize provided invaluable tips for maintaining good healthcare. These included ensuring an adequate quantity of sleep, engaging in at least 30 minutes of physical activity three days a week, drinking safe water, scheduling routine medical check-ups, consulting with a nutritionist, visiting a psychiatrist as needed, promoting health education in rural areas, and ensuring access to clean air.
Furthermore, Pharmacist Ize urged individuals to seize the opportunity extended by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, through the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency. This initiative offers a gateway to comprehensive medical care, empowering citizens to safeguard their health rights effectively.
As the world grapples with multifaceted health challenges, the Progressive Health Care Professionals and Associates (PHCPA) advocacy for health rights reverberates as a beacon of hope, rallying communities to assert their entitlement to quality healthcare.
