NLC and TUC Suspend Strike for One Week Amid Minimum Wage and Tariff Negotiations

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced a temporary suspension of their industrial action, which was initiated over disagreements on a new minimum wage and the recent hike in electricity tariffs. This decision comes after a joint extraordinary national executive council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

TUC President Festus Osifo confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating, "A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect."

The strike, which began on Monday, June 3, saw workers demanding a reasonable minimum wage from the government. The one-week suspension aims to provide a window for further negotiations and potential resolution of the contentious issues.
