Gov. Ododo Flags Off Construction of Doctors’ Quarters, Students’ Hostels at CUSTECH Teaching Hospital

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare and education infrastructure with the official handing over of construction sites for Doctors’ Quarters and Medical Students’ Hostels at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital, Okene.

Representing the Governor at the groundbreaking event, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, described the project as a clear demonstration of Governor Ododo’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to improving the welfare of citizens through targeted infrastructure development.

“This project is not only a major stride in improving the standard of medical training and healthcare delivery in the state, but it also builds upon the enduring legacies of the immediate past Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, whose administration birthed the Reference Hospital Okene; now transformed into a teaching hospital,” Hon. Abanika stated.

He disclosed that the project comprises four architectural structures to be executed by the following contractors:

1. Doctor’s Quarters Block A by LAPIEO Multi Services Limited

2. Doctor’s Quarters Block B by UPAV Integrated Enterprise

3. Medical Students Hostel Block A by BVENT Construction Limited

4. Medical Students Hostel Block B  by Fulcrum Pad Global Limited

The commissioner charged the contractors to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, quality, and adherence to timelines, stressing that excellence is the benchmark expected by the state government.

He also expressed appreciation to key stakeholders, including the Commissioners for Health and Education, the Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, and other supporting agencies for their collaboration in making the project a reality.

“This initiative reflects Governor Ododo’s commitment to sustainable development in Kogi State,” Hon. Abanika added. “With collective effort, we are poised to achieve remarkable success.”

Also present at the occasion were Members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Executive Chairman of Okene Local Government Area, royal fathers, and other critical stakeholders, whose presence underscored the importance of the project to the state’s development agenda.
