Kogi State Government Hands Over Newly Built Library Complex to KSU Kabba, Set to Deliver More Projects in Coming Weeks

The Kogi State Government, through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has officially handed over a newly constructed library complex to the management of Kogi State University, Kabba. The handover ceremony took place on Monday, 19th May 2025, at the university premises.

Speaking during the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, commended the vision of the institution’s founding father, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello. He described the former governor as a man deeply passionate about education and committed to making it accessible to all.

Hon. Abanika noted that the project is part of the continuity and consolidation agenda of the current administration under Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. He emphasized that the Ododo-led government remains resolute in sustaining excellence across all sectors, particularly education. According to the Commissioner, several other infrastructural projects are ongoing within the university and across sister institutions in the state.


He revealed that in the coming weeks, the Ministry will also hand over an administrative block and a classroom block to the university, as both projects are currently in their finishing stages. He urged the university management to utilize the library and other forthcoming facilities effectively for the benefit of students and staff.


In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University Kabba, Prof. K. I. T. Eniola, expressed profound appreciation to the former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for initiating the establishment of the institution, and to his successor, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for continuing to build on that legacy. He assured that the library would be maximally utilized to enhance academic activities. Prof. Eniola also commended the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, under the leadership of Hon. Abanika Taiye, for its thorough supervision and commitment to quality project execution.


The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. (Mrs.) Zainab Obadaki; the State Consultant, Engr. Suleiman Kabir; staff of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development; and top management staff of Kogi State University, Kabba.
