KSSH Performs First TURP Surgery on 78-Year-Old Patient

History was made on Tuesday August 26, 2025 at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja (KSSH) as the first Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) was successfully performed on a 78-year-old man diagnosed with an enlarged prostate.

The TURP procedure, a minimally invasive surgery, requires no external incision on the body and ensures a shorter hospital stay for patients.

The Management of KSSH sincerely appreciates Dr. Oyibo Emmanuel, a Visiting Consultant Urologist and a proud son of Kogi State, for bringing his expertise home to serve the people.

With this remarkable feat, the hospital is on course to become a hub for advanced endourological procedures in the near future.
