Hon Abanika Taiye Hails Court Verdict on Constituency Restoration, Says Gov. Ododo’s Leadership Advancing Equity in Kogi

The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in Kogi State, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has hailed the recent court judgment ordering the restoration of suppressed state constituencies in the state, describing it as a victory for justice, fairness, and inclusive governance.

Reacting to the ruling of the Federal High Court, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to restore the affected constituencies, the Commissioner said the judgment represents a major step toward strengthening democratic representation in the state.

According to him, the ruling will correct years of imbalance in representation and ensure that communities previously denied adequate voice in the Kogi State House of Assembly will now have the opportunity to participate more effectively in the legislative process.

Hon. Abanika Taiye noted that the decision of the court has renewed hope among the people and will deepen democratic inclusion across all parts of Kogi State.

He used the opportunity to extol the leadership of the Executive Governor of the state, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing his administration as one anchored on equity, fairness, and balanced development.

The Commissioner stated that under Governor Ododo’s leadership, governance in the state has continued to promote unity and equal opportunities for all communities, adding that the restoration of the constituencies aligns with the administration’s commitment to justice and inclusive development.

He also commended the member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of Nigeria, Hon. Abdulraheem Sanni Egidi, for his leadership and unwavering dedication to the advancement of his constituency and the state at large.

Hon. Abanika further commended the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, alongside the member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon. Jibril Abu, and other lawmakers for their diligent legislation and consistent advocacy, which contributed significantly to achieving this landmark restoration.

Hon. Abanika further noted that the current political leadership in Kogi State has been defined by a strong commitment to equity and justice, stressing that the restoration of the constituencies will give greater voice to previously suppressed regions.

He expressed confidence that increased legislative representation will enhance grassroots advocacy, attract more development initiatives, and accelerate socio-economic growth across the state.

The Commissioner therefore described the court judgment as a historic milestone that will strengthen democracy and ensure more balanced development throughout Kogi State.
