Youth Leadership Advocacy Group Honours CMD of Kogi State Specialist Hospital with Award of Excellence

The Advocacy for Youth Leadership in Governance, Nigeria on Thursday 26th of February, 2026 presented an Award of Excellence to the Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, describing his recent confirmation as substantive CMD as both well-deserved and timely.

The group made the presentation during a courtesy visit to the hospital management, where they commended Dr. Folagbade for his outstanding leadership and administrative capacity since assuming office.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the delegation noted that Dr. Folagbade has demonstrated that young people in positions of leadership possess the competence, vision, and capacity to perform optimally in governance. They highlighted his sagacity, administrative acumen, and remarkable performance in improving service delivery at the hospital as clear evidence that youth inclusion in leadership produces tangible results.

The advocacy group further stated that his appointment and confirmation serve as a strong inspiration to young Nigerians who aspire to contribute meaningfully to national development.

In his response, Dr. Folagbade expressed deep appreciation to the group for the honour and recognition, describing the award as a motivation to continue working diligently in service to humanity.

The CMD emphasized that his achievements are largely driven by the leadership direction and support of the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, whom he credited for providing young leaders the opportunity to serve and contribute to governance in the state.

Dr. Folagbade also acknowledged the broader national effort toward youth inclusion championed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that such policies have created more opportunities for young Nigerians to participate actively in leadership and decision-making.

He assured the delegation that he would continue to give his best to justify the confidence reposed in him, while striving to make the youth proud through improved healthcare delivery.

Dr. Folagbade reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring quality, accessible, and efficient healthcare services at the hospital in line with the healthcare mandate of the Kogi State Government.
