KOGI GOVERNMENT HANDS OVER NEWLY CONSTRUCTED MEGA SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TO CUSTECH OSARA
The Kogi State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, on behalf of the Kogi State Government, has officially handed over a newly constructed mega School of Engineering to the management of Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara (CUSTECH).
The brief handover ceremony, which took place on Friday, March 27, 2026, marked another milestone in the state government’s commitment to advancing educational infrastructure and capacity development.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, commended the vision of the founding father of the university and former Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello. He noted that the establishment and continued development of the institution have not only expanded access to quality education but also created employment opportunities for youths across the state.
The Commissioner also praised the current Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing him as a worthy successor who has sustained and built upon the legacies of his predecessor. According to him, the Governor’s commitment, particularly in approving funds for the construction of the engineering complex and other ongoing projects has positioned the university as one of the fastest-growing citadels of learning in Nigeria.
Hon. Abanika further extolled the contributions of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alh. Ali Bello, for his supportive role and ensuring the delivery of quality work on the project.
He equally commended the management of the institution, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, describing them as partners in progress. He urged the university authorities to make optimal use of the facility in line with its intended purpose.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Salawu, expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Government under the leadership of Governor Ododo for the sustained infrastructural development in the university. He emphasized that the present administration has significantly consolidated on the achievements of the former Governor, Yahaya Bello.
The Vice Chancellor also acknowledged the supervising ministry led by Hon. Abanika Taiye, members of the university community, and contractors involved at various stages of the project. He noted that the synergy and collective efforts of all stakeholders ensured the successful completion of the engineering complex.
Prof. Salawu assured that the university management would effectively utilize and maintain the facility to enhance academic excellence and practical learning in engineering and related disciplines.
