  The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced a temporary suspension of their industrial action, which was initiated over disagreements on a new minimum wage and the recent hike in electricity tariffs. This decision comes after a joint extraordinary national executive council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja. TUC President Festus Osifo confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating, "A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect."  The strike, which began on Monday, June 3, saw workers demanding a reasonable minimum wage from the government. The one-week suspension aims to provide a window for further negotiations and potential resolution of the contentious issues.

Organized Labour has declared an indefinite nationwide strike starting Monday, June 3, 2024, over the Federal Government's failure to meet demands for a new Minimum Wage. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) announced the strike at a news conference on Friday in Abuja.
