Value for Money: Kogi Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Inspects Projects at Kogi State University, Kabba

 

In a continued effort to ensure that the people of Kogi State derive maximum value from the resources invested in infrastructural development, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has intensified project supervision and monitoring across the state.

On Thursday, 20th March, Hon. Abanika led his team on an inspection tour of ongoing construction projects at Kogi State University, Kabba. The projects inspected include:

Faculty of Science, handled by Ridge Prime

Male Hostel, handled by Sil Estate Ltd

Female Hostel, handled by Musalib Construction Ltd

Senate Building, handled by AM Synergy

The Commissioner and his team were joined on the inspection by the university management team, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.I.T. Eniola. The joint inspection provided an opportunity for collaborative evaluation of the ongoing works and fostered engagement between the Ministry, the contractors, and the university.

During the inspection, Hon. Abanika emphasized that his role as Commissioner goes beyond office-based duties. He noted that his ministry is actively in the field, ensuring that every naira expended by the government of Kogi State yields tangible and lasting results.

“This is not an armchair office. We are out here, on-site, to fulfill the mandate of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, by ensuring that the people of Kogi get full value for every kobo spent on public infrastructure,” he stated.

Addressing journalists shortly after the inspection, Hon. Abanika stated that there is appreciable progress in the pace and quality of work at the various sites. He commended the contractors for their cooperation and assured that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will maintain close collaboration with them to guarantee quality delivery.

Hon. Abanika and the university management team stressed the need for proper documentation from the contractors and reiterated the importance of strict adherence to the use of standard materials as specified in the Bill of Quantities (BOQ). He made it clear that quality assurance will not be compromised under any circumstance.

He also lauded Governor Ododo for his unwavering commitment to the education sector, evidenced by the scale and scope of ongoing projects at Kogi State University, Kabba and other tertiary institutions across the State. Hon. Abanika affirmed that the Ministry will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all projects are completed to standard and delivered within stipulated timelines.

“Our governor’s massive investment in education is a testament to his vision for human capital development. As a ministry, we are fully aligned with this vision and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the success of every project,” he added.

The inspection visit showcases the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's commitment to transparency, accountability, and quality service delivery in all facets of governance.
