Relief for Renters: Kogi to Launch New Estate Project with Mufkad on June 9

In a strategic move to tackle the housing deficit in Kogi State, the state government has announced a collaboration with Mufkad Estate to provide affordable housing for its citizens. This collaborative initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration to improve the welfare of the people and promote infrastructural development.

On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, received a delegation from Mufkad Estate developers, owners of Itazi Court, on a courtesy visit to his office. The visit was to formally inform the ministry about the proposed groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony for a new residential estate to be located in the Abobo area of Okehi Local Government Area.

Welcoming the investors, Hon. Abanika assured them of the government's full support, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to partnering with genuine developers dedicated to the progress of Kogi State. He described Governor Ododo as a visionary leader who "hardly sleeps, constantly thinking of ways to improve the lives of Kogites."

“Housing is a fundamental need, and it remains a top priority for this government,” the Commissioner stated. “Any investor willing to align with the development agenda of this administration will receive our maximum cooperation and support.”

Speaking on behalf of Mufkad Estate, the Project Manager, Mr. Suberu Onimisi Nusa, expressed gratitude for the warm reception by the ministry. He revealed that the Abobo housing project will feature modern designs and infrastructure, comprising bungalows and duplexes that will offer one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartment units each tailored to meet the needs of different classes of civil servants and residents across the state.

Mr. Nusa also hinted at future plans to expand similar housing projects to other parts of the state, reinforcing Mufkad Estate’s commitment to supporting Kogi State's housing agenda.

The official groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 9, 2025.

This initiative marks yet another milestone in the government's drive to deliver affordable and decent housing to the people of Kogi State, in line with Governor Ododo’s vision for inclusive and sustainable development.
